A course designed for professionals working with children and young people to familiarise themselves with the current online safety landscape, covering technologies and the behaviours that develop around them. We will provide an overview of current trends and issues as well as outlining statutory obligations and signposting useful resources.

Multi Agency Online Safety Training

This course is ideally suited for Local Authorities and has been designed for all professionals working with children and young people.
This one-day, scenario-based course takes apart issues in online safety and illustrates how professionals can best deal with the digital age and issues in a common-sense, practical and robust way. The aim of this course is to empower professionals with knowledge and skills to identify and respond appropriately to online incidents.

While we will educate you on the new and up-and-coming changes to legislation, the latest apps, and most recent viral trends that young people are participating, this session also offers you a refreshing and unique review of all of the essentials of online safety. Free Online Safety Updates

Online Safety Live programme is the biggest online safety outreach programme in the UK for professionals working with children and young people. 

Delivered by SWGfL experts for the UK Safer Internet Centre, Online Safety Live events offer a brief update to anyone working with children and young people. Most importantly, they are free, local and short.

The events are suitable for the whole range of professionals in the children's workforce - teachers and school staff, Early Years and FE, police, youth workers, social workers, safeguarding professionals, sports coaches, healthcare professionals and many more. 

This year we have moved our Online Safety Live events online to ensure more people are able to access the world class sessions.

What do we cover?

An Online Safety Live event will cover a broad range of online safety topics, a briefing session in its truest sense. Giving you the very latest in legislation, research, technology and resources.

At the end of the event all delegates receive access to an online resource area containing links to all the materials mentioned, signposting to sources of help and support as well as a live copy of the presentation itself.

Children & Young People

It might seem too soon to start online safety training, but did you know that 52% of 3-4 year olds go online for an average of 9 hours a week? They’re rushing ahead of us and are an especially-high-risk group. We cannot ignore the need for education and awareness in early years – even if it does seem to be at such a young age. It really is never too early to address online safety for children.

Parents & Carers

Many parents use technology widely today but, despite understanding its uses and risks, still worry about what their children do online. Most children will manage their online lives well and build their own coping mechanisms just as they do with real life threats, however, they do often use technology and services in different ways to adults – which is where insecurity and worries can form.
