We've Won A BETT Award

BETT award 2011 logoSouth West Grid for Learning is celebrating its BETT Award for its highly regarded 360 degree safe self review tool for e-safety in schools (www.360safe.org.uk). The BETT Awards recognise outstanding educational products and learning solutions, and with a huge number of entries, are seen as the most prestigious in the sector.

360 degree safe is a user friendly, online tool which allows schools to review their e-safety provision, benchmark it against other schools and to develop an action plan for improvement. The BETT Award judges, consisting of influential stakeholders within the education sector and technology industry recognised the quality and effectiveness of the 360 degree safe resource which is provided free of charge to schools.

The South West Grid for Learning Trust (SWGfL) continues to develop a reputation nationally and internationally for the quality of its e-safety work with schools and with other organisations that work with young people.

South West Grid for Learning was thrilled to win the Leadership and Management Solutions award at the 2011 BETT Awards, held at a prestigious gala dinner at the London Hilton, Park Lane, on the 13 January 2011.

The BETT Award judges commented: “The judges found this to be an incredibly powerful tool that offers schools a process for identifying strengths and weaknesses in their e-safety provision. Offering immediate feedback, the system helps leaders and practitioners to continually improve. The tool also provides examples of good practice and expert opinion. This, along with the action plan allows school leaders to make informed decisions.”

They went on to give their reasons: “It was “clear winner” by the fact that it engages the school community in the whole processes around this important issue. This is an excellent way for schools to move forward. It is free, comprehensive, easy to use and developed clearly with users in mind. The resources and advice that is available is good and saves time.”

David Wright, SWGfL E-Safety Lead Consultant commented: “We are thrilled to win this award, recognising the quality of our work in the field of e-safety.  As an organisation which supports the innovative and safe use of technology in education, we work very hard to ensure that we deliver every school an excellent and cost effective service.”

Despite the unquestionable excellence of 360 degree safe, South West Grid for Learning continues to work tirelessly to further improve the tool.
