The UK Safer Internet Centre was pleased to announce the launch of the Safer Internet Day video wall earlier this month! As part of a new initiative for the global celebration of safer internet use, the video wall is there to showcase young people talking about their online lives.
The theme for Safer Internet Day 2023 is ‘Want to talk about it? Sharing your online experience’, which encourages young people to share their thoughts about the internet. The video wall is there to let them have their say whilst offering a fun way to get involved in the celebration.
How to submit videos?
Any young person aged 7-18 can upload a short film about their online experience. They are encouraged to talk about what they enjoy the most about the internet or what they would like to change on the internet if they could. For inspiration, they can cover a range of topics including social media, online bullying, video gaming, reputation or even online celebrities.
The UK Safer Internet Centre team moderates and publishes videos on the wall and has even provided guidance on what the submission rules are. This includes getting the support of a responsible adult to submit their video as well as getting permission to take part. Any video submitted without the support of an adult won’t be published on the video wall.
You can also watch the new Safer Internet Day Films that are now available to watch for primary and secondary schools. Take a look right here on the UK Safer Internet Centre films page. If you are an organisation or a school that has not yet registered your support for Safer Internet Day, you can get involved right here!
