Last week (Monday 11th July) David Wright (CEO of SWGfL) and Boris Radanović (Engagement and Partnership Manager) represented the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) in presenting the Child Online Protection National Assessment Report for North Macedonia. This was part of a larger global strategy by the United Nations ITU in improving child online protection through regional initiatives.
David and Boris presented the report, alongside Jaroslaw Ponder (Director of ITU Europe), Admirim Aliti (Minister of Education) and Jeton Shaqiri (Minister of Information Society and Administration of North Macedonia). They addressed an audience of stakeholders from across North Macedonia, sharing the conclusions of the report together with recommendations, following a number of interviews with leading ministers conducted earlier. See this update on twitter about the visit.
David Wright (CEO of SWGfL) said:
It was a fantastic opportunity to again speak on behalf of the ITU around an essential piece of guidance that was created with the sole intention to protect children online. We hope this visit brought awareness, knowledge and understanding around why these practices are crucial towards the wider reaches of online safety and we look forward to seeing this grow across a global scale in due course.
