Boris Radanović, Head of International Development at SWGfL, recently participated in the Conference on Gender Equality and Diplomacy: The Role of Ministries of Foreign Affairs in Promoting Gender Equality in the CEI Region, held in Podgorica, Montenegro on 24–25 June 2026.
The conference brought together representatives from Ministries of Foreign Affairs, international organisations, policy experts and civil society stakeholders from across the Central European Initiative (CEI) region to explore how diplomacy, international cooperation and public policy can help advance gender equality and address gender-based violence.
Strengthening Gender Equality
Gender equality remains a cornerstone of democratic societies and sustainable development. The event focused on strengthening regional cooperation, sharing good practice and identifying practical actions that can help create more inclusive, resilient communities. Discussions examined the integration of gender perspectives into policymaking, the role of women in leadership and diplomacy, and coordinated responses to gender-based violence, including emerging challenges in online environments.
Boris joined an expert panel on the conference’s second day, contributing to discussions on tackling gender-based violence and exploring how organisations, governments and international partners can work together to move from policy commitments to effective prevention and support.
Boris brought awareness around our own StopNCII.org tool to highlight how technology can be used to prevent harm before it has even happened. The session examined current trends across the region and highlighted opportunities for stronger collaboration and innovation in protecting individuals from harm.
The conference aimed to encourage the exchange of experiences and generate recommendations that will support future cooperation among CEI member states and international partners. The important discussions will contribute towards future regional initiatives and policies that advance gender equality, democratic resilience and sustainable development.
