Sophie Mortimer, Head of Support Services at SWGfL and lead of the Revenge Porn Helpline, has been shortlisted for the Hero of the Year category at the Women in Tech Excellence Awards 2026. This follows her nomination earlier this year and marks another significant milestone in recognition of her work supporting victims of online abuse and driving technology for good.
The Women in Tech Excellence Awards celebrates individuals and organisations making an outstanding impact across the UK's technology sector, highlighting leadership, innovation, advocacy, and positive change. Being named among the finalists, Sophie alongside some of the country's most influential professionals using technology for meaningful purposes.
Lasting Impact
Sophie has dedicated many years to leading services that help people affected by online harms. Through the Revenge Porn Helpline, she has helped shape one of the UK's most important support services for those affected by intimate image abuse. Under her leadership, the Helpline has supported thousands of individuals with removing NCII content from the internet whilst advocating for stronger legal protections across the policy space.
Sophie has also been instrumental in the development and growth of StopNCII.org, our groundbreaking global initiative that helps prevent the sharing of non-consensual intimate images before harm occurs. The platform has demonstrated how technology can be used proactively to protect individuals and has become a leading example of international tech-for-good collaboration.

The Hero of the Year category recognises individuals whose dedication, leadership and commitment have made a tangible difference to others. Sophie's place on the shortlist reflects not only her personal achievements but also the collective efforts of the teams she leads within SWGfL and the wider network of NGOs and stakeholders who work tirelessly to combat online harm.
