Sophie Mortimer, Head of Services at SWGfL and Revenge Porn Helpline lead, has been Nominated at the Women in Tech Excellence Awards, recognising her outstanding contribution to technology-driven social impact.
The Women in Tech Excellence Awards celebrate the individuals and organisations shaping the future of technology across the UK, with a strong emphasis on innovation, leadership, and diversity in the sector. Being nominated places Sophie among an influential group of individuals driving meaningful change through tech-enabled solutions.
Championing Technology for Good
Sophie has led services that support victims of online harm for many years, with the Revenge Porn Helpline standing as one of the UK’s most vital support systems for those affected by intimate image abuse.
Under her leadership, the helpline has supported thousands of individuals, combining expertise with compassionate, victim-centred care. The service is widely recognised for its effectiveness, including achieving high removal rates of NCII content and pioneering meaningful change through advocacy and legislation.
Sophie has also played a key role in advancing innovative tools such as StopNCII.org, our global initiative that allows individuals to proactively prevent the sharing of non-consensual intimate images. Her work has highlighted how technology can be harnessed not only to respond to harm, but to prevent it at scale.
This latest nomination adds to a growing list of accolades recognising Sophie’s influence in the tech-for-good space. She has previously received awards for her leadership and impact, including recognition at the Tech South West Awards for being an influential figure in the tech sector.
Her contributions have also been acknowledged internally as well, where she received an Impact Award as part of our 25-year celebrations.
Sophie Mortimer said: “I’m incredibly honoured to be nominated for this award. This recognition reflects the dedication of the entire team at SWGfL who work extremely hard to support victims of online abuse every day. Technology has the power to cause harm, but it also gives us the opportunities to challenge it and use it for good as well. I’m so proud to be part of a community committed to making the internet a safer place and look forward to continuing this work for many more years.”
