The Revenge Porn Helpline has released new easy read documents as part of a series of accessibility improvements being made to the service.
Easy reads are a way of ensuring that written information is easier to understand for people with learning disabilities, using short and clear sentences with images to help explain the content.
The new easy read documents have been created in collaboration with Callum Nevitt at Values into Action Scotland and with the support of Michelle Mair at the Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities (SCLD).
Easy reads
As part of a series of recent updates to the website, the new easy reads will ensure that anyone who has been affected by intimate image abuse can get the advice and information they need. The documents will assist in explaining what intimate image abuse is, providing important information about how the service can help:
- What is Intimate Image Abuse?
- Accessing the Helpline
- How can the Revenge Porn Helpline help?
- How to get in touch with the Helpline
The documents will also provide information and advice about the difference forms of intimate image abuse, including:
- Sextortion and webcam blackmail
- Intimate images shared without consent
- Threats to share intimate images
- Voyeurism and upskirting

Accessibility and Support
This year, the Helpline also introduced British Sign Language Translations and video explainers to their information and advice pages, to ensure that any information can be provided in a variety of formats to suit the needs of the user.
Updates to these videos are one of many steps the Revenge Porn Helpline has taken to ensure that they can provide support for anyone with additional needs, including providing adaptable advice formats, call-backs, and follow-up emails to ensure any adult over the age of 18 who has been affected by intimate image abuse can get the best support.
Alongside this, the Helpline will also do their best to provide a BSL translator upon request to anyone who contacts the service. To find out more about how the Revenge Porn Helpline can support your accessibility requirements, you can visit their website.
