ProjectEVOLVE – Always Listening, Always Evolving

We always like change. Change is what brings much needed update, excitement and promise for the future. Online safety and digital development is something that consistently requires change in order to stay relevant and applicable for the current climate. Our work on ProjectEVOLVE has been a fine example of how something can ‘evolve’ into something bigger and better with each new update. Fortunately for us, we have an audience whose valuable insight and feedback can guide us towards ensuring ProjectEVOLVE is effectively supporting them in many different ways.

The initial concept of ProjectEVOLVE was always to develop and work alongside our users to see how it can grow and improve. What initially started as a small idea has now grown to accommodate over 11,000 organisations in helping them spread essential awareness around digital development in children and young people. While the numbers speak for themselves, we will forever be grateful to hear from our users and see what more we can do to make ProjectEVOLVE as supportive as we possibly can. Take a look below at what updates have already happened this year.

Updates and Improvements

  • ProjectEVOLVE won 2022 Digital Leaders Impact Education Award

  • ProjectEVOLVE released the school account dashboard which can be accessed from the main toolkit page on the website

  • We have curated additional content from BBC OWNIT which includes resources for KS2 (7-11 year olds) which are now in relevant resource sections

  • To help support curriculum leads ProjectEVOLVE now tags each EFACW statement which identifies relevance to other curriculum areas

  • We have created a new curriculum search mechanism which includes subjects such as Maths, English and Science

  • This curriculum filter has been added to the filter list on the resource page

  • The dashboard tool now has a explanatory video walkthrough

  • ProjectEVOLVE now includes an easier route to get from a knowledge map to the planner

  • We have now included guidance around safeguarding and dealing with disclosures

Looking Ahead

Part of our model is to keep on evolving. Online safety and digital development is consistently changing and ProjectEVOLVE will always stay ahead with regular updates and improved features. Part of our latest campaign was to hear directly from secondary schools around how they are using ProjectEVOLVE and if any obstacles or limitations were met. No doubt, feedback that we gather will be taken on board and will be considered for our next update.

As always, we are forever thankful for those who are supporting us on our journey. Right now, ProjectEVOLVE has over 11,000 schools signed up which includes 41,500 educators. Your feedback is always valuable, and we hope to see these numbers continue to rise. ProjectEVOLVE is a free tool that can support you in spreading essential awareness around online safety and digital development in children and young people. Whether you are a primary or secondary school, there are materials that are relevant to you, with plenty of options for how you wish to approach it. Sign up for free and join us on the journey.
