We are pleased to announce the launch of our brand new hub, which delves into the broad topic of social media. For 2022, the team at SWGfL wanted to take huge topics within the field of online safety and create a place for professionals, parents and carers alike to get all the information they need in one place.
At the start of the year, we created a gaming hub, throughout spring we launched a digital wellbeing one and now, with world social media day taking place on the 30th June 2022, we thought it only fitting to release a social media hub.
Guides, Resources and Tools
Research from Oberlo has shown that there is expected to be 3.96 billion social media users in the year 2022. With social media platforms playing such a substantial role in many users’ online lives, the concern around how to stay safe online is a constant struggle, especially when it comes to young people. This new hub breaks down various elements of social media to highlight where risks can occur as well as showing the positive elements of using social media.
As well as an overview of the topic, the hub hosts supporting articles including:
- Misinformation on Social Media: Guidance, Impact and Support
- How Does Social Media Know What I’m Thinking?
- Spotting and Preventing Scamming on Social Media
- How Can Social Media Affect Body Image?
You can also find signposting towards our helplines, services and tools that can support professionals with helping young people to navigate online spaces. Discover more by visiting the hub.
