Assisted Monitoring Service from SWGfL & Senso

Since 2021, SWGfL have partnered with Senso to provide schools and colleges with the Assisted Monitoring Service

The service is used to monitor student behaviour online, allowing teachers and safeguarding leads to understand the harmful content that is being viewed or sent by younger age groups, either intentionally or by mistake. This process protects students within education settings, whilst enabling effective safeguarding processes to be put in place by professionals.

Assisted Monitoring flags content that has been classed as a ‘violation’. Specifically, illegal content, terrorist content, general ‘Adult’ content as well as harmful or inappropriate content are flagged as violations, although many other forms of content can also be highlighted by the system.

The implementation of Assisted Monitoring means that teachers and DSL’s (Designated Safeguarding Leads) will be provided with an effective process that will prevent young people from continuing to view or send abusive or inappropriate content. As noted, the service encourages professionals to prioritise further safeguarding processes which will contribute to young people developing their understanding of harmful content as well as the effects and impact of viewing this material.

Filtering and Monitoring

It’s important that the Assisted Monitoring Service is used with filtering and monitoring standards in mind, to allow professionals to approach harmful material in the best possible way.

SWGfL & Senso

We recently spoke with Senso about our partnership and the benefit it brings to educational establishments.

"I cannot think of a better organisation to partner with, SWGfL are leading figures in assisted monitoring and safeguarding. I love that they are at the forefront, challenging government guidelines, raising awareness and pushing for change in this very challenging digital age. Partnering with SWGfL quite simply helps to keep children safer online."
