Georgia Harrison Appointed as a Member of the British Order (MBE)

We are absolutely thrilled to extend our congratulations to Georgia Harrison on being appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her commitment towards raising national awareness of the harms caused by intimate image abuse.

Georgia’s recognition is not only well-earned but deeply vital for our current climate. As someone who bravely waived her right to anonymity following her experience of intimate image abuse, Georgia has given a voice to countless individuals who have suffered at the hands of perpetrators. Her story has been a powerful call for change, and because of her work, she has reinforced the call to continuously strengthen protections against this devastating harm. We have worked closely with Georgia on calls to strenghten protections including the push to tackle NCII content on non-compliant platforms through our NotYoursToView campaign.

Persistence, Politics and Protections

Her campaigning has gone far beyond telling her story. Georgia has fought tirelessly for better protections in law, more accountability from online platforms, and reform in how the justice system handles violence against women and girls. From marching outside Parliament, to challenging ministers inside Downing Street, to confronting the harms of deepfakes and online exploitation through national media, she has remained steadfast in her mission to make the online world safer for everyone.

Sophie Mortimer (Manager of the Revenge Porn Helpline) said: At the Revenge Porn Helpline, we’ve seen firsthand how damaging intimate image abuse can be. We also know how rare and vital it is to have a public advocate like Georgia, someone who not only understands the reality, but actively challenges the systems that allow this abuse to persist. Her work has helped to reduce stigma, spark difficult but necessary conversations, and ensure that victims know they are not alone. Calls to the helpline increased during Georgia’s trial, which is testimony alone that it gave courage to those to reach out for support.

Georgia’s MBE is more than a personal accolade; it is a symbol to all those fighting to end intimate image abuse. We are grateful for her partnership, her persistence, and her refusal to back down in the face of adversity. Congratulations again, Georgia. You’ve truly made a difference that will be felt for years to come.
