The 18th West of England ICT Conference will take place on 30th June 2016 at the UWE Exhibition and Conference Centre in Bristol. This year’s theme ‘Digital Doorways’ reflects the way in which technology can literally open the door to endless possibilities and opportunities, allowing learners to explore, experiment and enhance their knowledge and skills. The doorway is also open to support leaders and teachers with using technology to share collaborate and learn from each other as well as providing tools to give learners exciting experiences to address their learning needs across the whole curriculum.
This year’s thought provoking and informative keynote speakers are:
- Tim Rylands - a long established friend of the conference who will inspire and excite with new ways of using technology to get the creative juices running!
- Ken Corish - who will update us with the latest safeguarding and online safety trends and developments in the educational arena
- Fran Scott – who has a unique view on STEM and was a keynote at the BETT education technology show in 2014
At the heart of the conference are our inspiring seminars which focus on supporting all practitioners to use a wide range of ICT to support and promote learning in the classroom. This year’s selection of seminars are focused around broad themes including supporting ‘Teaching & Learning’ and ‘Leadership & Management’. They offer a focus on key areas such as online safety, curriculum and mobile devices. Included this year is a Teach Meet which will span across seminar sessions to give delegates an opportunity to look at real practice from other schools.
The conference will also host a large exhibition of technology suppliers and the opportunity to engage with representatives to explore how their products and services can benefit learning in your school.
Information about all aspects of the conference, including the seminars and keynote speakers, is available through the brand new West of England ICT Conference web site which can be accessed at http://weict.org.uk/.
How do I book my place?
- Delegate booking is being managed by South Gloucestershire as one of the organising local authorities through their online booking system. The web site address for the system http://cpd.sgsts.org.uk
This conference is a crucial event for all those school leaders interested in ICT and education. It provides an opportunity to learn from practitioners in other schools, have your thinking challenged and to network with others who are enthusiastic in engaging learners through technology.
We look forward to seeing you on 30th June.
