SWGfL has announced that it is introducing Assisted Monitoring; a new service that applies SWGfL unique capabilities to assist schools in managing technology monitoring systems.

Assisted Monitoring will keep a continual eye on a schools monitoring systems and make immediate contact with the school if an urgent issue is reported. Capitalising on the unique skills within SWGfL, advice will then be given to the school (if required) in responding, managing and resolving the particular issue.

SWGfL is ideally and uniquely placed to provide this service, applying its unique skills and team developed over the years of operating 2 landmark and award winning helplines; the Professionals Online Safety Helpline (POSH – part of the UK Safer Internet Centre) and the Revenge Porn Helpline (RP) – both are world firsts. SWGfL has developed world leading responses to and managing complex online safety issues coupled with unrivalled links with social media and technology providers.

Laura Higgins, Online Safety Operations Manager at SWGfL said “our specialist team has developed a unique set of capabilities that are perfect for this type of service. They have trained eyes that are tuned into the issues to look for, the capacity to make immediate contact with the school and the skills to help resolve, what are often complex and significant issues.

As a charity and for the long term we are building Assisted Monitoring to help any school manage any technology monitoring system they may have. In the first instance we are delighted to introduce Assisted Monitoring with Future Digital and their Futures Cloud solution.

We have been critical of schools that purchase these very powerful monitoring systems but fail to apply the necessary resources to manage them. Effective safeguarding relies on a schools ability to respond and act on those alerts. A school holding safeguarding intelligence and not acting upon it undermines the systems purpose and it is failing in its duty of care. We have the capability and capacity to make a real difference here – that is why we are introducing Assisted Monitoring”
Assisted Monitoring will be available to any school who is either already has or is purchasing Futures Cloud Monitoring.
